Reliving the day: Thursday

When they say that your wedding day is the most important day of your life, you don’t quite get it. You only get it when you lay there with your now husband laughing and remember the day. It was absolutely beautiful.

In order to preserve the event, I want to savor every moment and relive it in true 236 adventures blog style.

Thursday: 2 Days til the Wedding
The week of the wedding, Matt and I worked until Wednesday night. We gathered everything up, packed the bags and loaded what we could into the vehicle to take off on Thursday morning. We did some errands including picking up the tuxes, meeting with the chair rental guys, final talk with the ceremony location, and then the good stuff….picking up of the family that arrived. While we weren’t there to officially pick Kevin up, I feel that it’s appropriate that he was the first to arrive. He was the first Remynse that I met outside of Randy and Michele and has been one of the biggest (and loudest) champions of Matt and I’s relationship. After taking care of some hotel business, we took him to JL Beers to get a bit of local flavor. If I don’t count my time with Tiff as the official kick off, this was a great start. Following that, we met up with the rest of the Remynse’s who had FINALLY made their way from the north. Was great to see Jason, Sara, and Lil Jason again, it’d been about a year and Lil Jason had definitely grown but the best part was Jason and Sara hadn’t changed a bit…those smiles and hugs were even more welcoming this time! And then they got the surprise on Matt as their wedding gift included a side by side 16 gauge shot gun that’s been in the hands of four generations of Remynse’s. You want to see a smile on Matt’s face, that definitely did it. I’ll never forget the excitement that he felt and the shock in that gift. The other person we got to see was Eric.

After hanging out a bit, Matt left to grab Kevie (not pronounced Key-veeee) and meet us for dinner at the Walrus. We definitely tried to show a bit of local flare while we could. You could say that it was an obvious Remynse night…it was amazing to me as I watched this group that haven’t been together in years pick up like they got together every week. And to feel welcomed (and even a bit haggled) made me feel very humble to be a part of so much love.

Best meal: Remynse Supper…it really doesn’t matter that I had the Polar Bear pizza, but I loved the sharing of stories, pizza, beer, and ribbing.

Randy, MJR, ALM enter an elevator. Eric is in elevator.
Sounds of surprise.
Later in the car on the ride to the tux shop, Michele calls Randy. They have determined they are meeting at the tux shop to try things on and make sure there is a fit.
30 seconds after the phone rings.
Eric gets a phone call. “WHERE ARE YOU?” (It’s Michele)
Eric: “I’m in the truck!”
