Roadtrip to CA: How to be impressed by an Uncle...

After having buffet breakfast at the casino, we loaded it all back up, again. The third day started on through the Sierra Nevada towards California. This drive and the Montana drive were my two favorite of the trip because of the colors and landscape. It was so gregarious and rocky and the trees would grow out of the middle of the rock. We saw a brief glimpse of Tahoe, which looked gorgeous from above. It was weird to see the brake signs and runaway truck alleys, we don't see those everyday.
We got into Stockton and got a brief tour of Kevin's work site before going out to lunch at a local Sushi place. Was an awesome meal. I think my favorite part was the hand roll that they prepped, a recommendation from Kevin!

After lunch, we convoyed Troy (the F150), Kevin's King Ranch, and his fancy new pickup back to Rio Vista. I was given the high honor of driving the fancy new truck.

It was good to catch up and visit, it only really gets to happen a couple times a year! We also saw Kevin's catch that he had in Alaska and got to go fish shopping in the freezer, not everyday that I can pick out salmon that was alive last week! We prepped that and the crab that they caught in a few various ways including smoked and grilled. The crab was prepared in salad, which was great but the fish always manages to be the highlight of the meal. Was a great night and good to have made it.

ALR sees Californa sign go by on road.
ALR: AHHHH! You didn't tell me we were that close.
MJR looking sheepish: Oh I thought you knew how close California was to Reno.
ALR: NO! What a bummer.

Sign along road "Agricultural Check Point"
ALR: What is that?
MJR: I don't know, never heard of it.
continues driving
MJR: Do we have anything?
ALR: This banana.
MJR: A Billings banana?
ALR: Yes.
MJR: I bet we get stopped because we are from ND.
car gets waved to stop as "ranger" comes towards window.
ALR: You were right.
