The one with Kyle's wedding and without the fireworks
The temps have been rising... the rain still hasn't shown up.. .but the 4th of July came in a burning rage of glory. Last year, we didn't have a parenting game on.. .this year we were ready. After a quick trip to Mandan, we celebrated the best part of the day in the backyard in Eleanor's kiddie pool. All of us crawled in there at some point, including Lola. That night, we had the family over for supper. Eleanor thought it was fun to play during the middle of the week. We didn't do the firework show at the Capitol, someone was in bed by the time they started. Maybe in the next year or two.
Other than that...we've been doing things around the house... nothing too excited, just mowing the yard, cleaning the freezers, and getting ready for #2. Is it hard to admit it's getting a little real that he's coming and we are probably never going to be ready for another life shifting change - but it's coming whether we are ready or not!
We also celebrated Kyle and Angie's wedding this past weekend. My favorite thing is a couple that is authentic to themselves and their relationship when they get married. They got married at Buckstop Junction, which Eleanor loved and it was like a large family get together, complete with yard games, good music, and a trough full of ice and drinks that toddlers love to play in. We liked the music, after all it's not everyday that the couple walks down the aisle to a song from Pulp Fiction. The only kicker was that it was so hot, another melty day, this made chasing around our busy butt a bit harder than we realized, she wore me, Matt, and herself out exploring all she could.
At Art in the Park, temp is the equivalent of the face of the sun.

ALR wipes the sweat from her cheeks.
ALR: Isn't this supposed to be fun? I'm not having any fun. I'm dying. Can we be done?
MJR: Yeah, let's go
As they walk away.
ALR: Next year, when I say "let's go to Art in the Park"... I want you to look at me and say, "No, they have the same shit every year."
MJR: Are you serious?
ALR: Yes, I'm sweating through my shoulderblades, there isn't anything new and they haven't planted enough trees and WHO doesn't take square. AH!
MJR: Put it in the blog so I have some credibility.
